Rest day in Le Bourg d’Oisans

Glorious sleep in today! I then proceeded to loll and didn’t get up until after 9. After showering and washing I went looking for a Patisserie and bought brekky. I got a Salmon and Broccoli quiche, baguette and my first Mille Feuille (1000 layers) basically a custard slice. All of it was delicious of course. The lady in the Patisserie almost laughed out loud when I tried to pronounce Feuille J

I ate all that back in my room and then uploaded 3 days’ worth of blog, I’m 10 days behind! The internet connection is a bit slow for photo uploading but I’ll get there. Then I rang mum and dad and finally… I had a nap! Glorious J

After a good nap I went for a walk around to town to see if anything was on and to decide where to have lunch. I’d decided to have a Salade Nicoise as I haven’t had one yet and with the hot weather it is perfect for lunch. I decided to go back to the hotel and eat there when I remembered the Post Office! So I had a look to make sure it was open and then headed back to the hotel, grabbed a huge bag of stuff (T-Shirts caps, maps etc) and then went back. Happily it was quite reasonable at only €38 including the box. It was only 1.65 Kg but it was very bulky which was making packing difficult.

The main thing was to not pack the E-Ticket for the flight home!

That done I went back to the hotel to settle down to the Tour and lunch; which was very tasty by the by. I then sat there and ‘watched’ the 135Ks of the Tour while uploading previous days to the Blog. My laptop ran out of battery with about 5Ks to go, so that was perfect timing. There was a break away (with Chavanel) which had almost 10 minutes and Bosan-Hagan did a big attack with about 2 Ks to go. One rider went with him but got dropped. The rest seemed to leave it all to one Orica Scott rider and so of course they all lost. The peloton rolled in a while later as a group, no change in the standings.

I went back up to the room to do some packing and then a he thunder storm broke out; lightning and thunder galore, Cougar would have hated it!

The laptop had charged a bit so rather than leave it plugged in I did some more diary before dinner. Almost up to date now, the diary is all done, just a couple of days left to upload to the blog.

I went down to the dining room around 7:30 as it was still pouring outside. The restaurant was packed due to the rain so the meal took a while. I warmed up with a glass if Kir and the entrée which was a simple salad with nice cheese and the main was a (dry looking) tender beef dish that was delicious. A simple Myrtille (as in small blueberry) tarte for dessert and all washed down with a bottle of water.

After a long meal I headed back up to the room and updated a bit more of the Blog before watching 95% of a Midsomer before the battery went flat. Bed around 11.
