We lolled until after 9 today as it is a rest day. We eventually got going because the cleaning lady wanted to clean the room.
We had a nice walk around the town, visited the river (so that Paul could check out a Brasserie) and then went to the town's cathedral. Quite impressive, there's been one here since the mid 10th century. We then wandered back through town in search of lunch! Paul picked a place quite near the hotel where we got a nice four course meal. We both had the duck gizzard salad, very tasty, then I had trout cooked in butter with chips and Paul had what looked to be an entire pigs stomach rolled up and on a bed of small potato's (yuck). Paul thought it was delicious of course. Cheese and then I had a rum and raison ice cream and Paul had sliced orange.
We then went back to the hotel, I rang home, Paul slept. Then I dozed off while Paul read his emails. We then walked back into town to get some food. Obviously after a four course meal Paul was starving again be 4.30 pm so off we went :) We had already picked the place to get the food at, a charcuterie. Paul got 3 different terrines and some salad. At a patisserie we got a baguettes and a apple tart, a huge slice. Water with dinner tonight.
We went back to the room for a rest to watch TV, Tour of Poland, and doze off. Then the final chore of the day! Dinner!! Paul had picked a really nice selection of food, see the picture:
Terrine de Poisson under the Medallion de Salmon
Salade Nicoise
Pate de Lapin below the salad
Baguette
Galantine de Volailles on the top right
Apple Tart
According to Paul the Galantine is made from a chicken that has been de-boned and then stuffed. Naturally we managed to eat it all!
